A movie theater, from the box office to the web

StillDeep Theater is a complete example business: ten rooms, ten movies a day, a box office with seating plans, a snack bar, a self-service kiosk in the lobby and an online ticket shop. Every screen sells from the same seats.

  • No seat sold twice
  • Kiosk in French or English
  • Free screen source code

The business

StillDeep Theater is a fictional ten-room cinema. Seven rooms of 40 free seats, three rooms of 20: one free, one half free and half numbered, one numbered with VIP boxes. Ten real movies play in back-to-back showtimes from 10 a.m. to midnight, two weeks ahead, with their posters and their cast.

Four screens sell for it, on the same engine and the same seats: the box office, the snack bar, the lobby kiosk and the web.

The box office

Pick a movie, a showtime and the prices: adult, child, senior. In a numbered room, the seating plan shows each seat with its state: free, chosen, held elsewhere, sold, and the wheelchair, companion, VIP and duo seats.

A seat chosen here is held on the server for this cart: the kiosk and the web see it taken right away.

The snack bar

Popcorn, drinks and candy on large tiles, a gift card or a theater card scanned at payment. The snack bar register can also sell tickets when the line gets long.

The lobby kiosk

Today's movies with their posters, a showtime, the seats, the payment by card: the customer buys alone, in French or in English. Between two customers, the posters turn in 3D.

Self-service kiosk: today's movies with their posters and showtimes, in French or English.

Tickets on the web

The online ticket shop sells the same showtimes, sections and seats as the box office. Chosen seats are held for ten minutes, then freed if the order is not paid. The web pages need no script.

Try it live: it is the real example, connected to its own server. Test mode, no card is charged.

Online ticketing: the movies showing today with their showtimes, rooms and seats left.

How it runs

One server for the whole theater

The theater's server holds the database, the Admin and the Reports. Movies are added from Wikidata with their poster in one click, in the Admin.

Every screen on the same seats

Box office, snack bar and kiosk are registers; the online ticket shop is a register too. A seat is sold once, whatever the screen.

The screens are yours

Each screen is a small application of its own. Change its colors, its logo and its screens without touching the engine: taxes, seats and tickets stay right.

Free screen source code

The source code of the box office, the snack bar, the kiosk and the online ticket shop is free: copy it, rebrand it, fork it for your own theater.

Four complete screens

Box office, snack bar and kiosk in WPF, the online ticket shop in Blazor without script: code you can read, change and ship.

Seating plans included

The plan of each room is drawn by the screen from the seats the engine returns: change its look without touching the seats.

Ready for your coding agent

Every example comes with its AGENTS.md, and the stilldeep-pos-screen skill gives a coding agent the steps to adapt the screens to your business. Describe what you want; the agent edits the screens, the engine keeps the rules.

The developer guide shows the other way: your own screen, in your own language, over gRPC.

Questions about the theater example

Do I need all four modules?

No. Ticketing sells the seats; add Bars and restaurants for the snack bar, Loyalty cards for gift cards and season passes, and the Custom document generator to design your tickets. Remove a module from your cart if you do not need it.

Is the web demo real?

Yes. The online ticket shop is the example itself, connected to its own server with its own database. The card payment is in test mode: nothing is charged.

Is the theater example free?

Yes. The screen source code is free. The modules are licensed per register; developers, schools and non-profits can apply to the free program.
