# Equipment rental POS software

## Licenses

Prices before taxes, for one register. A license lasts its length (1 week, 1 month or 1 year) from its purchase and can be moved from one register to another.

## Why Rental
### Late rentals show by themselves
The due date is set at checkout; once it passes, the rental shows as late. Changing the item later does not move rentals already out.
### Deposits tracked to the cent
Deposit taken at checkout, given back at return: StillDeep knows what is left to give back. Late fees are recorded at return.
### A price that follows the duration
A rate grid by duration (1 h, 4 h, 1 day, 1 week): StillDeep combines the rates, longest first, to cover the requested duration.
### A fixed return time
Lockers returned at 3 p.m. or 9 p.m.: at the sale, StillDeep finds the next scheduled return and prices the duration that follows.
### Registered or walk-in customers
A name and a phone number are enough for a walk-in.
### Booked ahead
A rental put on reservation is held until payment: it goes out when the reservation is completed and is freed when it is canceled.

## Questions about Rental

### How is a rental price computed?
A fixed price for a fixed duration, or a rate grid by duration: StillDeep takes the longest rate that fits first, then fills in with shorter ones. With a fixed return time, the duration runs to the next scheduled return.

### What if the item does not come back?
At return, mark the rental as lost. You decide how much of the deposit you give back, and the agreement keeps the record.

### Can I print a rental agreement?
Yes, with the Custom document generator: one numbered agreement per rented item, with its due date and deposit.

### How is this different from the Sites and seats module?
Rental tracks an item that leaves the business: a bike, a helmet, a crate. Sites and seats tracks a place that stays put: a campsite, a room, a table.

### Which length should I choose?
One week for an event, one month for a short season, one year for a rental counter open all year.
